Today is the second time I have run a 5k in a week. Last weekend wasn't a fluke, then.
We all went to Halcyon Bike Shop and I checked out some second hand bikes. I wanted to get an idea of price. What were we talking about, pricewise? I looked at a really nice bike that was $750. Yikes. We put that one back. I told him I was looking for something that could do a 20k triathlon ride, but mostly it would be for pleasure and pulling a kid in a trailer. He went to the back and brought me out a bike for $375 that was what I was looking for.
So, in that range, I don't have enough money in my budget this month, but I will have that next month or the month after.
Then I looked into what I need gear wise. I think I will either wear a 1 piece triathlon suit, which I would wear for the entire thing, or a shorts and top combo. I will probably still have to wear some kind of triathlon sports bra under the 1 piece suit. Then there is the question of wearing sunglasses (I would need to buy some cheap sporty sunglasses) and contacts under my regular goggles, or prescription goggles and prescription sunglasses.
So, let's say that I am going to have to spend about $100 on things I will wear. And the registration is $105.
Damn, it's getting expensive. The bike is happening either way. $200 in other stuff isn't insignificant. Gotta marinade on this one. I have until May 8 to get the $105 registration rate.
Tomorrow I start doing double training. I will always do two of the sports in one session. So I will swim and then bike tomorrow. I am going to do perhaps 500 yards (20 laps) and then bike for 20 minutes. Today was hard, so I don't feel the need to blow the top off.
Ahhh...this post makes me so jealous! How I wish to train for something. I am so excited for you to do this (if that is what you chose to do)!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think it is pretty likely that I will do it. I swam and biked today and it went better than I expected! The real hard part is the biking followed by running. I am going to give that a go on Tuesday night. I am not going to run very much, perhaps only 10 minutes, but I have been warned about jello legs when you get off the bike.
